Top Shows of 2018

This year is shaping up to be a fantastic year for theatre both in London’s West End and locally! From smash-hit musicals, hugely anticipated shows, brand new plays and the revival of classics, there really is something for everyone – in fact it’s almost too difficult to choose which to see first!

We’ve taken a look at some of the shows we’re looking forward to most…

  1. Tina The Musical – Aldwych Theatre

The incredible story of Tina Turner’s life, from her difficult early years through to super-stardom, has equally incredible songs to go with it! From director Philippa Lloyd, who directed the world premier of Mamma Mia!, this highly-anticipated production is already a smash hit and has won rave reviews from critics and the audience alike!

  1. Grease – Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells

We can’t wait for the fabulous TWODS production of the all-time classic Grease which is on from 15th – 19th May in Tunbridge Wells! TWODS shows are always a must-see, showcasing some of the best talent in acting, singing, dancing and theatre production that the area has to offer, and this will be no exception! Guaranteed to be a great night out, tickets are now on sale at

  1. Aladdin – Prince Edward Theatre

Following the successful ongoing run of The Lion King in London, still one of the hottest shows in the city, Disney Theatrical Productions brings the magical world of Aladdin to the West End this year! With all the classic songs from the original Disney film adaption, this one is perfect for kids and grown-ups alike!

  1. The Merchant Of Venice – Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells

We’re lucky in Tunbridge Wells to have not one but two fabulous theatres! In June, coastal touring theatre company, Bowler Crab, bring the classic Shakespearean tale The Merchant Of Venice to the atmospheric Trinity Theatre – with laughter, romance and a few tears too, this is not to be missed! Tickets are available now at

  1. Quiz – Noel Coward Theatre

For something a bit different, we’ve chosen Quiz – from prolific playwright James Graham. Following glowing reviews from its run at the Chichester Festival Theatre, this game show-based play is set to wow audiences with its unique interactive elements and surprisingly thought-provoking themes throughout.

  1. Chicago – Phoenix Theatre

It might be an old classic, but Chicago is one of our top picks as it never fails to entertain and delight with its unique take on Vaudevillian criminal life. Now in its 21st year in London, there have been many celebrities grace the stage in leading roles over the years, and this time Cuba Gooding Jr. is starring in his London theatre debut.

  1. School of Rock – New London Theatre

Based on the 2003 blockbuster film, the highly-anticipated production of School of Rock boasts music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics from Glenn Slater. The hilarious and heart-warming story is performed to perfection by the fantastic young stars of the show, making this is the perfect show for all the family!

  1. For our final must-see show, we couldn’t pick just one! So, we want to celebrate all the upcoming dance school shows that are taking place over the next few months locally and further afield! At the Dancing Boutique we’re proud to play just a little part in what makes your shows so fantastic, whether it’s providing a special costume, a new pair of shoes or just a tiny piece of elastic, and we love hearing how excited you are and seeing the passion you put into your performances!

Good luck to everyone who is lucky enough to be performing on stage this summer – enjoy every moment and be proud of yourselves!
